Marbella Property Guide – Welcome!

Welcome to the blog space on the newly launched Marbella Property Guide. Here you will find everything you need to know about property in this area of the Costa del Sol, including Marbella, Puerto Banús, Nueva Andalucía, Marbella East, and San Pedro de Alcántara. There are dedicated links to individual residential areas and complexes but important information is also provided on the area as a whole. In addition, this blog has been created as a place for additional and timely data to make your house search and investment experience even easier.

Marbella Property

Marbella comprises several areas in which to look for property. The town itself features the pleasure marina and fishing harbour,  the town centre, and some long-established hotels on the Golden Mile such as Puente Romano and Marbella Club Hotel. In the foothills directly behind the Golden Mile are the luxurious gated villa communities of Sierra Blanca, Altos Reales and Cascada de Camojan.

At the end of the Golden Mile, immediately to the west of Marbella Town is Puerto Banús which, although it belongs to the municipality of Marbella, is like a town in its own right. As its name indicates the area is centred around a pleasure harbour and marina. It features shopping and entertainment facilities usually associated with a larger city, including the Corte Inglés shopping centre and multiplex cinema.

Directly behind Puerto Banus is the beginning of Nueva Andalucía, also known as “the golf valley”, also belonging to the municipality of Marbella. This area is distinguished by its gentle slopes and for this reason many important golf courses are situated here. It features a bullring and a casino, shopping centres, hotels, bars and restaurants.. The architectural style of Nueva Andalucía at times recalls traditional post-Moorish homes, hence its name.

Marbella East is a very large area stretching from Marbella main town to the harbour of Cabopino. It includes residential areas on both sides of the N340 such as Los Monteros, Costabella, El Rosario, Elviria, Ricmas, Alicate, Las Chapas and Hacienda las Chapas. This is another great place for golf, with six clubs:  Golf Rio Real, Santa Clara Golf, Marbella Golf, Greenlife Golf Marbella, Santa María Golf and Country Club, and Cabopino Golf Marbella. There are plenty of chiringintos, or beach restaurants in Marbella East, but also finer dining venues. The mega shopping, cinema, and Fnac centre La Cañada, as well as the mountain village of Ojen, are not far away.

The westernmost section covered in the Marbella Property Guide is that of San Pedro de Alcántara. San Pedro is under Marbella’s municipal jurisdiction but it enjoys peldanía status, which means that it boasts its own mayor and town hall. In fact, the town is quite naturally separate and different from Marbella: it goes back several millennia as a human settlement in its own right and in the nineteenth century was the epicentre of a large sugar cane exploitation, with the old refinery now serving as an arts and exposition centre. San Pedro features interesting villas as well as residential complexes, and plenty of restaurants and commercial centres. While Nueva Andalucía is distinguished by its homes on the “mountain” side of the N340 road, in San Pedro there is a lush residential area on the sea side of the road where residents enjoy easy access to the beach.

Marbella Rentals

The current state of the market means that many owners of beautiful Marbella homes will choose to rent rather than sell their properties, giving those looking for rentals a greater variety to choose from. Find out the specifics in our dedicated pages for Marbella Rentals.

Tickets for four screenings are €16 for films in the main contest and €10 for films in the other categories.
